Hurricane Isabel
- When we were coming back from Beaufort, NC in April, we spent the night in a hotel on Hattaras Island. Here's how it did in the storm.
- In the summer of 1999, the lighthouse at Cape Hatteras was moved 2,900 feet to a new location. Probably a good idea and just in time.
- I've also collected the IR Satellite images for the eastern region for the duration of the hurricane. Here's a subset of them animated with a Java applet. Note that it may take a while to load all 113 images. It includes one image every half hour from Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2003 at 12:15 AM through Friday, Sept. 19, 2003 at 2:15 PM. There are no images for 4:15, 4:45, 5:15 and 5:45 AM but that seems to be normal (i.e. they are missing from every day in the NOAA archives).
